Your data

This is where you ask us to delete your barber.box account, send you a copy of your data, or fix something that is wrong. It is also how a barbershop that never signed up gets its page removed. You need no app installed and no account signed in.

1. Delete your account

Deleting your account is your call and we act on it. There is no waiting period and no hidden steps.

You ask by email, at [email protected], from the address you sign in with. If you start the request inside the app, you end up on this page: it is the same request, to the same address.

Write to us with:

  • The email you sign in to barber.box with.
  • What you want: the account deleted, a copy of your data, or something corrected.
  • For a correction, the detail that is wrong and what it should say.

We ask for no justification. If you write from an address other than the account's, we ask you to confirm, the minimum we need to be sure it is you.

The person who receives and handles the request is the controller of your data: Hugo Abreu, a private individual resident in Portugal. There is no company behind barber.box. It reaches him directly at [email protected].

2. What we delete

Everything that identifies you goes:

  • Your name, email and phone number.
  • Your profile photo.
  • The link to the Google or Apple account you signed in with.
  • Your device push token.
  • Any open session, on the phone and in the browser.
  • Any note written on your bookings, whether you wrote it or the shop did.
  • The name and phone a shop typed onto a walk-in booking, where those are yours.

After that the account can no longer be used. There is no way back in and we keep no means of restoring it. If you ever come back to barber.box, you start fresh, with a new account.

3. What we keep, and why

Bookings and payments stay, with nothing identifying you attached to them. The record goes on existing in the barbershop's history; it stops being yours.

They stay for two reasons:

  • The barbershop needs its own booking and payment history to close its books.
  • Portuguese law requires invoices and their supporting documents to be kept for a fixed period, and those documents describe real transactions.

The RGPD deals with this in Article 17(3)(b): the right to erasure gives way where a legal retention obligation exists. That is what applies here.

Reviews you left lose their author. The name comes off the page and the link to your account is cut.

The rating from 1 to 5 stays, with no link to you, because a barbershop's overall score is built from it. The written comment is deleted.

4. If you run a barbershop

If you own a barbershop on barber.box, two things come first: cancel the subscription, and transfer or close the shops registered to you.

This exists to protect the people who booked. Customers hold appointments with you over the coming days. Deleting the account out from under them would leave the shop with no owner, the schedule with nobody running it, and those people at the door of a barbershop where nobody is expecting them.

Write to [email protected] and we work through it with you: the shop moves to another owner, if there is one, or we close the schedule and tell everyone who had a booking. Once that is settled, the account is deleted like any other.

5. Export and correction

You do not have to delete your account to fix a problem with your data.

A copy of your data
Ask and we gather everything we hold against your account: profile, bookings, payments, reviews and notifications. We send it by email, in a structured format you can open and take to another service. The answer is put together by hand, request by request, within the window set out on this page.
Correcting something wrong
Name, email and phone are editable in the app, under Account. Barbershop details are editable in the Studio app. If there is something you cannot fix yourself, tell us which detail it is and what it should say.
Restriction and objection
You can ask us to freeze the processing while we work through a disagreement, or object to the processing that rests on legitimate interest, including your barbershop's directory listing.

All of it goes to the same address, [email protected], and none of it costs anything. For everything else, [email protected].

6. How long it takes

We confirm the request as soon as it arrives, so you know it did not get lost.

The window we hold ourselves to is the RGPD one, in article 12(3), counted from the day the request reaches us and not from our acknowledgement.

What the law says is this: the RGPD gives one month to answer, extendable to three months where the request is complex. If we need the longer window, we tell you inside the first month and explain why.

If we do not answer, or the answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), Av. D. Carlos I, 134, 1.º, 1200-651 Lisboa, [email protected], www.cnpd.pt.

7. Removing a barbershop listing

The site publishes a page for every barbershop in Portugal, including shops that never signed up to barber.box. That data did not come from the shop: it came from publicly available sources of business information.

A shop listed that way was never a user and has no account, so this route works with no account at all. We are not going to ask you to sign up in order to leave.

Write to [email protected] with the establishment's name and address, and say what you want:

  • The page taken off the site.
  • Something wrong corrected, such as the address, the opening hours or the phone number.
  • Only the phone number removed, with the rest of the page left up.

We ask for no justification. If you would rather stay and take control of the page, you can claim it in the Studio app: correct the address, hours and contact, and add services, prices and team.
